At 20.00 hr the concert started in the 'Nieuwe Luxor Theater' in Rotterdam and Alessandro walked silently onto the stage. He
started with the beautiful song 'Venezia al tramonto'. He wore a very nice black suit with shiny lapel (the same as
Muziekfeest op het ijs) and a black shirt and very nice black shoes.
In the orchestra that accompanied him, were a pianist, a guitarist, a trumpet player, drummer, the chamber orchestra Camerata
Ardesko (violins) and two background singers. One of them was the singer Sandra Alessi. There was loud applaus after the
first song and Alessandro apologized for the fact that he wasn’t in Rotterdam for such a long time. It was about 7 years ago
that he was there with 'Night of the Proms' in Ahoy.
Then a few famous songs came by, 'Incanto', the emotional 'Non avendo te', the beautiful 'I sussuri del mare' and of course
'Sognami' and the wonderful song ‘Tous les visages de l'amour' of Charles Aznavour. The audience reacted enthusiastic!
After that Alessandro took a short break and Sandra Alessi came on stage and sang the beautiful song 'Strani amore' for us.
Thereafter Petra Berger entered the stag and sang the songs 'Here and now' and 'Terra Promessa'. When she was finished
Alessandro came on stage again and together they sang the duet 'Life goes on'. Then it was time for, yes of course, his
‘hit song ’Luna'.
After a break in which we could drink something Alessandro entered the stage again. He told us that he couldn’t see us
because it was too dark, so we waved with the tifoso scarfs and yelled “here we are”! Then they put on the lights so that
he could see his fans. He talked a little while with his fans and started to sing again. The beautiful song ‘Regresa mi'
and then 'All of me' came by, 'Nostre orchestra piccola' and the well know of the Godfather 'Parla piu piano' (Speak softly
love), 'Al di là' and then the typical Italian song 'Volare'. In between the songs he told something about the songs, that
was very nice. He also sang the wonderful duets 'Con te partiro' and 'The Prayer' together with Petra Berger.
The very famous Italian song 'O sole mio' came by and 'Il mondo' (he sang that song in Music Farm). When we heard the first
sounds of 'Funiculi Funicula' we all started to sing and clapped with the music. Alessandro pointed his microphone a few
times in the direction of the audience and we sang with him. He had lots of fun and we also!!! Around a quarter past ten
he was finished with his concert, but he didn’t want to quit already because the audience reacted so enthusiastically. So
he gave an encore with 'Torna a Surriento' and 'Non ti sordar di me'. Also a few Napolitan songs past by. He told us that
he knew on song from when he was little. He sang this song very often with his dear mother. Around half past ten the concert
was over, but the audience yelled and clapped for more! But he didn’t started to sing again, but he gave a special encore…
he reserved some time for his fans.
In the lobby of the Nieuwe Luxor Theater was a counter and he went overthere to meet his fans who were already waiting
there for him.
He signed cd’s and photo cards and received presents from his fans. He took all the time for a chat, a photo and some of
his fans got a kiss on their cheek. What a marvellous end! It was half past eleven and the last fan arrived at his counter,
then he had to go. It was a great end of a wonderful evening!
Alessandro, tanti mille grazie per la tua musica!!! Sei grande!!!
