I was on time in Amsterdam and I met there of course fan club members who attended the concert too.
It was great to see us because most of the fans were wearing the tifoso scarf! So, the knew that the
Safinafanclub was present! ;-) There was one fan club member who came all the way from Germany and
one member came all the way from Seattle, USA!
We sat down in our chairs and waiting anxiously for Alessandro.
The orchestra that accompanied him was the same as in Rotterdam and there was a pianist, a guitarist, a
trumpet player, drummer, the chamber orchestra Camerata Ardesko (violins) and two background singers.
One of them was the singer Sandra Alessi. At a quarter past eight the orchestra started to play and soon
Alessandro came down the stairs as a real divo. The audience welcomed him with a big applause and
Alessandro started to sing his first song, ‘La Mattinata’. He stood there and sang with such a passion and
emotion. Wonderful!!! After this he sang a special song for his fans ‘Musica di Te’.
Followed by the beautiful song ‘Incanto’ and then the song of Venice waking up ‘Venezia al tramonto’.
Then Alessandro announced that Sandra Alessi would sing a song and he climbed the stairs and went
backstage. She sang the beautiful ‘Strani amori’.
After this he came down the stairs again and told us that in the first part of the concert he would sing
famous Italian songs from his last CD ‘Sognami’ and after the break real Italian and Napolitan songs. Then
he started to sing the Spanish ‘Regresa mi’. When he was finished he said, O sorry, this was a Spanish
song! ;-))
After this he sang the soundtrack of his CD, ‘Sognami. We enjoyed it very very much and sang with him.
Then Petra Berger came down the stairs and Alessandro wanted to sing the duet ‘Life goes on’ with her.
But she told him that she had to sing alone first, so Alessandro claimed the stairs again an disappeared.
Petra sang ‘Here and Now’. After this Alessandro came down the stairs again and Petra climbed up.
And then, we all got goose bumps, Alessandro sang the very emotional ‘Non avendo te’ That was so
beautiful, we all we quit. And to make it even more international he sang ‘Tous les visages de l’amour’ of
Charles Aznavour. He ended the first part of the concert with of course…. ‘Luna’. After this song there was
a short break. Everybody agreed, what a wonderful first part of the concert and he sang fantastic!
Fortunately the break wasn’t so long and Alessandro climbed down the stairs again and started with a real
Italian song that was very famous ‘Volare’. Then he sang ‘Al di la’ and also the beautiful ‘Il nostro concerto’
passed by.
He also sang ‘All the things you are’ of Ella Fitzgerald. And then the very famous theme of the
Godfather 'Parla piu piano' (Speak softly love). He also sang the beautiful song ‘Il Mondo. And yes, there
was Petra again walking down the stairs and Alessandro climbed up. Petra sang for us her great song ‘Terra
promessa’. Then Alessandro came down again and together the sang the duet ‘Life goes on’. When they
were finished she climbed the stairs again but she forgot that her dress was made of shine through fabric
on the back…..
Well, Alessandro says, I am Italian so…. ;-))))!!! Lots of laughs!
He quickly went to his microphone and started to sing the song ‘Non scordar di me’ and then ‘Malle femina’.
To continue with the well known song ‘O sole mio’ In between he thanked all the people of the orchestra
and the background singers and he also told us their names. But he forgot the keyboard player, but he
corrected it in a very polite way. He fell on his knees and said O I am so sorry! We all laughed of course. He
can do such funny things!
Then Petra came down the stairs again and together the sang the wonderful duet ‘Conte partiro’, (why do
you have to leave). This was officially the end of the concert. But we gave Alessandro a standing ovation
and he received flowers. Luckily, he gave them away and started with his first encore, ‘Torna a surriento’
and luckily another one. This we didn’t wanted to miss it for the world because he sang ‘Nessun Dorma’ óf
Puccini. WOW, what great voice, he sang it so wonderful, unforgettable.
Then Petra came on stage again and together they sang ‘The Prayer’, pella doca or goose bumps. But we
didn’t want him to leave yet so, we kept on clapping and cheering. Fortunately Federico, his manager, said
that is was okay to sing another song. We were already standing in front of the stage and waved with our
tifoso scarfs. He walked back and started to sing ‘O Surdato nnamorato followed by the swinging ‘Funiculi
Funicula’. We had such a great pleasure, wonderful.
Again we couldn’t say goodbye and he came back and sang ‘Santa Lucia’. He also couldn’t say goodbye so
he asked us what he had to sing for us. We chose ‘Ci vorrebe il mare’. It took a little while due to a
technical problem and it seemed like it wasn‘t going to happen. But fortunately it was all solved quickly. So
we enjoyed the song about the see. After that he asked us if he could sing ‘Luna’ again. Of course, no
problem. So he ended the concert with his famous hit song ‘Luna’. After a long applause the singing part
was over and it was almost eleven o’clock in the evening!
But Alessandro didn’t leave. He directly went upstairs and sat behind a table to sing cards, cd’s etc. and to
make pictures with his fans. He enjoyed the attention very much. There was a long queue of people waiting
for him.
He took all the time for everybody, that was really great, especially because he sang for a few hours.
We appreciated that very much! Of course we brought him some presents. Chocolate letters (December
5th) and a book about the habits and traditions of Holland. This book I gave Alessandro and Federico on
behalf of the members of the fan club. So that they can read about our funny habits!
After almost an hour of signing, making pictures etc. it was time to say goodbye. Another picture and then
we said goodbye and thanked him for the unforgettable evening!
Caro Alessandro, tanti tanti mille grazie per il tuo FANTASTICO, MERVALIOSO,INDIMENTICABILE CONCERTO!!!
